Feel better achieve freedom from worry

Welcome to

The Olive-Tree and the Fig-Tree.

The Olive-Tree ridiculed the Fig-Tree because, while she was green all the year round, the Fig-Tree changed its leaves with the seasons. A shower of snow fell upon them, and, finding the Olive full of foliage, it settled upon its branches and broke them down with its weight, at once despoiling it of its beauty and killing the tree.

But finding the Fig-Tree denuded of leaves, the snow fell through to the ground, and did not injure it at all.

“It isn’t always the stronger that flourishes, but the one who can weather the storms.”

Hello, my name is Ella, and I am deeply committed to the transformative potential of therapy. At Fig Tree Counselling, I offer a safe and welcoming space for individuals, couples, and families to navigate through challenging life experiences such as abuse, neglect, trauma, and loss.

These encounters often shape one's perception of the world and profoundly impact relationships. My goal is to help you understand and address these experiences in a confidential and supportive environment.

About Fig Tree Counselling

I provide counselling services in several locations including Clydach & Porthcawl, with each counselling room designed to create a warm and discreet atmosphere. For those who prefer or require it, I also offer remote counselling sessions, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.

My approach is humanistic and person-centred. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can explore your experiences without judgement.

I work collaboratively with you, rather than telling you what you should do. Together we can explore what you’re experiencing, understand patterns that may be affecting you and consider what you would like to change.

Adults

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, trauma and significant life changes.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to counselling. Sometimes having a confidential space to make sense of what’s happening can be the first step towards feeling differently.

Couples

Relationships can go through difficult periods. You may be struggling to communicate, experiencing repeated arguments, feeling disconnected from one another or trying to navigate a significant change in your relationship.

Couples counselling provides a confidential space for both people to be heard, to explore what is happening within the relationship and to consider how you would like things to move forward.

Children & Young People

It can be difficult for parents and carers to know when a child or young person might benefit from counselling.

I offer a safe, age-appropriate space where children and young people can explore their feelings and experiences in a way that feels comfortable for them.

I have experience working with children and young people through my professional background in counselling, education and social care.

Eating Disorder Specialist

I am an experienced eating disorder practitioner with five years’ specialist experience working within the NHS, supporting children, young people and adults experiencing eating difficulties and eating disorders.

I have specialist training in the Maudsley Model and CBT-E (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders) and have supported individuals and families through assessment, treatment and recovery.

I understand that eating disorders can affect not only the individual but also those around them. My approach is compassionate, collaborative and non-judgemental, creating a safe space to explore difficulties with food, eating, body image and the thoughts and emotions that can maintain an eating disorder.

I can support people experiencing difficulties such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating and other eating-related difficulties. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis to seek support.

If you are worried about your relationship with food, eating or your body, you do not need to wait until things become overwhelming before seeking help.

My Background

I specialise in many different avenues and I’m highly trained in helping with eating disorders. Throughout my training and post-qualification journey, I have had the privilege of working with diverse organisations across Neath and Port Talbot, Powys, Merthyr, Swansea, and Carmarthenshire.

My professional experience includes roles with Powys NHS, focusing on eating disorders, and positions in education as a college counsellor and education social worker. I have collaborated with Action for Children, Barnardos and New Pathways. I currently collaborate with Dyfed-powys-police and Cloud 9.

Reach Out Today

My extensive experience spans working with a broad spectrum of clients. Each one brings a unique story, and I am committed to providing personalised support tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

At Fig Tree Counselling, I am here to help you navigate life's challenges and work towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your relationship, or as a family, I am here to listen and guide you with compassion and professionalism.
